How I Stopped Wasting My Time
This was a video that was suggested to me (I've never seen any of her videos before—it looks like she does collage). The artist discusses how she always viewed her problem as a time shortage, but when she eventually left her job to pursue being a full-time artist, she did not feel that she had any more freedom. She was aimless and often wasted time. She did not have set goals and just jumped to various urgent tasks.
She began to implement Morning Pages, which helped her to clear her head and allowed for imortant ideas to come to her in the mornings instead of late at night. She started to sleep better at night with an emptier head.
She also discusses the book The Twelve Week Year. I have heard about this book, but I've never read it. I checked it out as an ebook from the library so I will start to read it now that I heard this video.
I have noticed that I tend to get more done on days when I have other obligations. I get more done at work when I have a few meetings sprinkled throughout the day, for instance. I also get more artwork done if I have something I have to do later on (I think I know that I need to do it earlier or I won't get a chance all day).
